eSpace Digital Kiosk
A digital signage web application that pulls daily facility schedules from the eSpace API and renders them on lobby kiosks with automatic vertical scrolling, smart room-name compression, and unattended macOS/Linux startup scripts.
The problem
Campus lobbies needed an always-on schedule display that stayed readable even on busy event days without requiring staff to manually update slides or restart browsers after power cycles.
How I approached it
I built a Next.js signage interface with URL-configurable kiosk parameters, automatic scroll loops, and dynamic text fitting for dense room names, paired with automated macOS install/uninstall shell scripts and Docker/Caddy deployment configs.
Inside the build
- Implemented dynamic schedule rendering with auto-scroll and configurable URL-based kiosk controls.
- Added smart room-name compression and text-scaling to keep dense schedules readable.
- Built automated macOS install/uninstall scripts for unattended kiosk deployments.
- Documented standalone deployment options for Linux and Docker environments.
The result
Eliminated manual lobby schedule updates with an unattended kiosk display that boots and recovers automatically.
